Natalie Portman keeps ‘new fling hush-hush’

Natalie Portman is keeping mum over her relationship with choreographer Benjamin Millepied because she doesn’t want to be projected as a home wrecker.
Millepied, 32- the New York City Ballet dancer-is choreographing the ‘Closer’ star in her new movie, ‘The Black Swan’.
And reports suggest that Natalie was the reason behind Millepied’s break up with his girlfriend of three years.
“They’ve been dating since the fall, although she told friends that she hasn’t gone public with it because she was waiting to see if things got serious,” the New York Post quoted a source as saying.
“But the real reason she was quiet about things is that Ben had a live-in girlfriend of three years when they met. She was a ballerina at the American Ballet Theater. She had been talking about marrying him and was blindsided by the split. She moved out right after New Year’s Eve,” added the source.
A spokeswoman for Portman said: “We have no comment about her personal life.”

Eva Longoria aspires to be like Posh

Eva Longoria has said that she wants to be like Victoria Beckham.
The ‘Desperate housewives’ star met the former Spice Girl through husband/French basketball player Tony Parker, who is apparently friends with Victoria’ husband/soccer star David Beckham.
“Tony is a friend of David’s [Beckham] and when they moved to Los Angeles, I got the chance to meet Victoria and we just hit it off. So we’re close friends. She’s just an amazing woman,” the Mirror quoted Longoria as telling New! Magazine.
She added: “I admire the wife and mother that she is and, at the same time, this glamorous, beautiful businesswoman. I aspire to be like her some day.”
Longoria also loves Victoria’s clothing designs.
She said: “Awesome! Right now they are my favourite dresses. I think Victoria is not just another celebrity trying to have just a clothing line. She is fashion and definitely knows what’s she’s talking about.”

Jolie’s adopted kids become ‘fashion accessories’ in online game

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s adopted children have found place in an online game that enables players to purchase orphans as ‘fashion accessories.’
The game titled, My Minx, also allows young girls to give contraceptives and morning after pills to their online avatars.
Players dress their “virtual minxes” in lingerie and other revealing clothes and can buy orphans named after the adopted children of celebs including Madonna and Ewan McGregor.
The adoption clinic in a virtual Style City includes children called Pax, Maddox and Zahara, after Jolie’s children.
These children have the same ages and nationalities as Jolie’s, with the three-year-old Maddox, said to be Cambodian and fond of eating cockroaches.
The five-year-old Vietnamese Pax is called a fan of noodles, and four-year-old Zahara from Ethiopia is called a guinea pig eater.
Once the adoption fee is paid, players give their new children designer gear and try and sell image rights for them to celeb mags.
Players are challenged to outdo rival “minxes” by hoarding more adoptive children.
The game developed by north London firm Blighty Arts also allows players take their minxes binge drinking and clubbing as they try to seduce men.
Minxes, who succeed in one night stands, have access to virtual condoms and morning after pills.
Gamers can design their own lingerie brands and handbag ranges as they play to create the most stylish minx.
There is no age restriction on the game and players running out of virtual cash can top up their accounts by sending text messages costing 1.50pounds each or use PayPal.
My Minx was unveiled shortly before Christmas and has already boasts of 20,000 members as young as seven.
However, the game has come under fire from parents’ groups.
“There are more than enough pressures on children to grow up already. We don’t need any more,” the Telegraph quoted Andy Hibberd, spokesman for parents’ rights group Parentkind, as saying.
Hibberd continued: “Their parents will not have any idea that they are playing this game and the children will fail to appreciate its irony.
“Having them getting virtual condoms or morning after pills will not make them any less promiscuous.”
Hibberd added: “As regards child adoption, this game encourages them to think that they don’t need to worry about morals or ethics. It is all just a bit of fun.
“It is sending out all the wrong messages and the only reason its creators have made it is to make money.”
But Blighty Arts director Christopher Evans says the game is pure entertainment.
He said: “It is nonsense to suggest our game is a bad influence on young children.
“We try to protect children too much from the real world for too long in this day and age. They cannot be wrapped up in cotton wool.
“We should let them grow up making their own decisions about the games they play.”
Evans added: “The game teaches children about the world while poking fun at celebrity adoptions.
“Every time they turn on the TV they will see the likes of Madonna adopting African children anyway.
“The contraceptives and morning after pills are only one part of the game and we are not encouraging young girls to take them, just reflecting real life.”

David Arquette furious over blog about wife Courteney Cox’s weight

American actor David Arquette has expressed his anger over a New York Times fashion blogger’s comment on his wife Courteney Cox’s weight.
The blogger had caused outrage among readers after alleging that actresses Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Kate Hudson have “put on a little weight” at the Golden Globe awards.
Arquette, 38, was so furious about the comments that he aired his thoughts at the opening of the “Pee Wee Herman Show” in Los Angeles on January 20.I don’t think that has anything to do with anything. Writing articles about people that put on weight is just wasting space for real news,” Fox News quoted him as saying.
“And who really cares? I love round people, I love skinny people. I love people in general; we’ve got to get past labels and stop being so critical about everything.
“On the Internet, people find that place and think they can just speak their mind, but a lot of the time you see how mean people are. In general, we just need to be a kinder society,” he added. (ANI)

‘Veer’ fails at box office

Salman Khan’s much ambitious period drama ‘Veer’ has fallen flat at the box office despite having an extended weekend for business, thanks to Republic Day. The movie has not gone beyond an average 45 percent occupancy over the initial weekend.
Released Friday, the film was a solo release, but has failed to attract masses.

‘ ‘Veer’ is an average movie. While the constant on Friday and Saturday was only 44 percent occupancy, it dropped to 39 percent on Sunday and has been on an average only 43 percent over the initial weekend,’ Amit Awasthi, manager (programming and operations) of Spice Cinemas at Noida, told IANS.

‘It is now expected to fall around 30-35 percent. We were running 19 shows per day and in the new week, we will change it to eight shows per day,’ he added.

Written by Salman 20 years ago, the film was co-produced by Eros International Media Ltd presentation and Vijay Galani’s Moviez production.

Made at a budget of around Rs.44 crore, (Rs.440 million) ‘Veer’ has been directed by Anil Sharma and marks the big screen debut of Zarine Khan, who is said to have a close resemblance to Salman’s actress girlfriend Katrina Kaif.

Set in colonial India, the film encapsulates a period when the British enslaved India with their divide and rule policy and kings and nawabs fell for it, except for the Pindaris who preferred death to dishonour and fought till their last breath. Salman plays one of the bravest and strongest Pindari soldiers named Veer.

‘There has been a major drop in the movie. ‘Veer’ is a period movie and audiences have not been able to relate to it. The movie got only around 40 percent of opening because there was no competition considering it was a solo release,’ said Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (cinemas) of Wave Cinemas.

‘Now that we have an extended weekend due to Republic Day, may be it gets some footfalls as people don’t have any other movie to watch,’ he added.

Piyush Raizada, director of Delite Cinema that upgraded itself into a two-screener, however, claims that movie is diong a good business.

”Veer’ is doing very well and the collections are fantastic considering it’s a long weekend,’ said Raizada.
