Actress Jessica Parker new president of Halston fashion brand



Actress Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed that she will be the president of the US fashion brand Halston.
‘The Sex and The City’ star will also take on the role of chief creative officer and will be putting her signature stamp on the brand’s designs, reports dailystar.co.uk.

‘I think this is a brand new kind of Halston, business model and it illustrates how serious I am about this position. I think it’s wonderful to feel invested in something. I tend not to just endorse something. I like feeling the stakes,’ said Parker.

‘I know I come to the company in a rather unorthodox way but I am not the first to be president of a company without the traditional background. Others have been successful in those endeavours and I do so hope I can be as well,’ she added.

Parker, who launched her own affordable apparel line ‘Bitten’ for US retail giant Steve & Barry’s in 2007, will follow in the footsteps of Lindsay Lohan who took a job as creative consultant at French fashion house Emanuel Ungaro in 2009.

Hollywood actor Ben Affleck desperate for a son



Hollywood actor Ben Affleck wants a son and is requesting wife Jennifer Garner to plan for another child.
The couple have two daughters, Violet, 4, and 12-month-old Seraphina, and now Affleck is keen for a son to complete the family, reports dailystar.co.uk.

But Garner is not interested.

‘Ben would like a boy, but I don’t want another baby right now,’ said the actress.

Lara Croft named most successful woman computer game


Angelina Jolie’s on-screen character Lara Croft has been voted as the the most successful babe in the computer game history.
Jolie played Croft in the ‘Tomb Raider’ series and the computer game based on the same has picked up six awards in the new Guinness World Records Gamer Edition, reports dailystar.co.uk.

‘Avatar’ bags eight BAFTA nominations


Acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron’s 3-D sci-fi epic ‘Avatar’ has received eight nominations at the upcoming British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) 2010 Thursday.
The Sam Worthington starrer alien drama is facing competition from Lone Scherfig’s ‘An Education’ and Kathryn Bigelow directed ‘The Hurt Locker’ both of which have also got eight nominations.

According to the official website, ‘Avatar’ has been nominated in the categories of best film, cinematography, editing, music, production design, sound and special visual effects. Cameron is nominated for the best director.

‘An Education’ too has has been nominated for best film as well as Outstanding British Film, adapted screenplay, costume design and make up and hair. Scherfig is nominated in the best director category, Alfred Molina in the supporting actor and Carey Mulligan in the leading actress category.

‘The Hurt Locker’ is nominated for best film, original screenplay, cinematography, editing, sound and special visual effects. Bigelow is also nominated for best director, Jeremy Renner for best leading actor category.

Completing the best film line up are George Clooney starrer ‘Up in the Air’ and ‘Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire’ both of which are also nominated for adapted screenplay.

Comedy film ‘The Hangover’ has also got the best screenplay nomination for Jon Lucas and Scott Moore.

Competing for the best actor trophy are Jeff Bridges (’Crazy Heart’), Clooney (’Up In The Air’), Colin Firth (’A Single Man’), Jeremy Renner (’The Hurt Locker’) and Andy Serkis (’Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll).

Rubbing shoulders for the best actress award are Carey Mulligan (’An Education’). Saoirse Ronan (’The Lovely Bones’), Gabourey Sidibe (’Precious’), Meryl Streep (’Julie & Julia’) and Adurey Tautou (’Coco Before Chanel’).

The ceremony will take place Feb 21 at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.

Salman Khan ‘The Patriot’ to join the Republic Day parade in Delhi


In his endeavour to promote his new film Veer Salman Khan is going all-out to prove he’s the new-age Manoj Kumar of our cinema.
Suddenly, as it were, Salman has transformed into the perennial patriot promoting nationalism and brotherhood at any given cause.
According to the sources close to the Khan , Salman will now be a part of the Republic Day parade on January 26 to not only participate in the event but also to comment on the whole concept of freedom and independence in the contemporary context.
According to the source, “This is Salman’s golden opportunity to clean up his image. He wants to wipe out his anti-establishment image. He has made up with the media. Now he wants to project himself as someone who cares deeply for his country.”
Producer Vijay Galani confirms Salman’s presence and participation at the Republic Day parade in Delhi on January 26.
Says Galani, “Salman will be seen live on a Hindi channel at the Republic Day parade talking about what freedom and independence mean to Indians.”
Salman has been preparing extensively to hold forth in Delhi on January 26.
Says a close friend of the actor, “Salman is tired of being portrayed as the enfant-terrible. He wants a clean image. He’s told his family and friends he’d like to set the right example for his younger fans.”
The theme of Salman’s Republic Day comments in Delhi would be, ‘Do Not Misuse Your Freedom.’
And a very close friend of Salman says, “When he’ll talk about not misusing freedom Salman would be talking about him as well.”

Aamir Khan breaks free of bad habits


Aamir Khan made a New Year resolution. He won’t touch alcohol and cigarettes. And he’s even managed to stick by it so far.
During the success party for 3 Idiots at an Andheri restaurant, he didn’t have any alcohol. Even at his nephew Imran’s engagement party, he was seen refraining from having anything alcoholic.
When asked why he decided to quit smoking and drinking, Aamir admits that he just wanted to do it. He put on 10 kilos in the past few months because he ends up drinking a lot and he doesn’t want to feel unhealthy. While he isn’t much of a smoker, he wants to give that up too.
