Brother of Nancy Kerrigan Charged with Assault After Father's Death

The brother of skating champ Nancy Kerrigan is facing assault charges in Massachusetts following the death of their father.
Mark Kerrigan -- who has been living in his parent's basement -- was held on a charge of assault and battery on a person over 60 that resulted in injuries.
ET was inside the courtroom today, where details of the evening emerged. Officers responding to a 911 call described Mark as "belligerent and combative" when questioning him, saying they had to use pepper spray to subdue and arrest him. During his arrest, it was alleged that he had grabbed his father by the throat.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the two got into a struggle after the 70-year-old Daniel Kerrigan refused to let his son use the phone.
"Authorities are conducting an investigation into a sudden death," District Attorney Gerry Leone tells ET. "Police and State Police ... responded to reports of an unresponsive male ... upon arrival, authorities located a male in need of medical attention who was transferred to Winchester Hospital, where he was pronounced dead."
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Daniel this afternoon.
